The Beauty of Language

By Noel Ignatiev

“It was the crossover play on the right wing,” Curry’s teammate Andre Iguodala said in recalling the play. “And he hit him with the bop bop, and the guy leaves his feet but he’s also trying to slide on defense. He almost falls back, and Steph had that rhythm about him when he shot it, and you know it’s going in as soon as it’s leaving his hands.” – NYTimes 6/15

Could Hemingway (or even Shakespeare) have said it better? Imagine it like this in a poetry journal:

It was the crossover play on the right wing,
and he hit him with the bop bop,
and the guy leaves his feet
but he’s also trying to slide on defense.
He almost falls back,
and Steph had that rhythm about him
when he shot it,
and you know it’s going in
as soon as it’s leaving his hands.
