With a royal wedding impending in the U.K., and the buzz about the movie The King’s Speech,
I’m remembering the first column I wrote that got me death threats. It
was about the death of Princess Diana, and you can read it here.
Believe it or not, when I wrote the column I had no idea that people
would react to it the way they did. I had lived in the U.S. for not
quite two years, and didn’t realize how Americans fetishize the English
Royal Family. I soon found out; the hate mail and phone calls kept
coming for months.
